About Madison County
Madison County was formed in 1806 and memorializes President James Madison. The county spans an area of 650 square miles. The major
occupation of the population has been and is dairy and agriculture farming. Farming was mostly tillage. Large yields of grain and potatoes were
possible. Through the years the county has grown immensely owing to three main roads, which traverse from the east to west.
The County Organizational Structure
The organization structure is one of critical issue to Madison county where has many types of departments. The county’s organization consists of
31 departments and the board of supervisors where mayors from each city in the county represent.
The board of supervisor(2001)
The board of supervisor consists of 19 representatives from towns or villages of the county and has one chairman. Each member is in charge of
one or more project. The board runs monthly meeting and the board member has two years term.
Overall organization structure
The county consists of more than 30 departments. Each department has a director. Some departments have further division to respond special needs.
