The following high-level view of KHA Support Services is intended to show how the enterprise’s Mission & Vision are realized via its current Lines of Business, including the KHA Knowledge Management Plan’s Knowledge Warehouse. This view is designed to be extensible to support the following KHA 2007 – 2010 Strategic Plan goal: Establish a “General Aviation Systems” line of business as well as other future enterprise initiatives by enabling the reader to observe how the intersections reveal how Back Office services contribute to the success of KHA’s revenue-generating lines of business (LOBs) through enabling the LOBs ability to offer responsive, high-quality products and services to KHA’s customers. In all instances, the use of a Back Office service by a Front Office LOB occurs in order to enable the customer-facing LOB to more effectively and efficiently compete in its target market segment.

The rows in the table above list the enterprise services provided by Back Office LOBs to the Front Office LOBs (Product Lines/Services) listed in the table columns. An intersection in white indicates that a product line/service uses a Back Office service. An intersection in black indicates a product line/service does not use that Back Office service. The table below provides a brief description of each enterprise Back Office service.
Back Office LOB Service Service Description
Finance & Administration Payroll Performs enterprise labor timekeeping, paycheck deductions,  printing, depositing and distribution
Finance Supports all LOB cost-benefit/return-on-investment analysis along with established financial planning activities
General Accounting Maintains all enterprise recordkeeping for accounts receivable, payable, asset and liability plus internal audit activities
Cost Accounting Provides all financial cost recordkeeping
Financial Reporting Generates and distributes all metrics relating to the financial health of the enterprise
Human Resources Supports all employee and contractor hiring, benefit and termination activities for the enterprise
Office Administration Manages all aspects of the office building facilities of the enterprise including general clerical support to  all employees/contractors
Employee Safety Ensures that all employees have a safe working environment and works toward a hazard-free workplace for the enterprise
Technology Support IT Governance Provides enterprise application, data/information and infrastructure computing oversight for the enterprise
IT Systems Maintenance Develops, configures, deploys and sustains software applications for all enterprise LOBs via the COE
KW Maintenance Develops, configures, deploys and sustains data and information repositories for all enterprise LOBs
IT Security Solutions Provides common IT Security Management software components in support of Security Policies implementation
Telecommunications Installs, configures, deploys and sustains telephonic and computing network resources  for all enterprise LOBs
Server Administration Installs, configures, deploys and sustains computing server resources for all enterprise LOBs
Contracts & Legal Proposal Development Works with product lines to create and deliver winning presentations to their customers wanting bids on enterprise products
Contract Administration Creates and manages the contracts describing how the enterprise product lines will honor their product commitments to customers
Licensing Creates and manages the contracts describing use of enterprise-proprietary technology separate from delivered products
Materials Management Mail Services Sends and delivers all enterprise correspondence via external postal and package delivery services
Shipping & Receiving Sends and accepts delivery of all enterprise material not appropriate for transmittal via Mail Services
Warehouse Management Caretakers of all enterprise warehouses and their contents including tools, parts and raw material used to build enterprise products
Quality Assurance Inspects all received parts to ensure no defects are passed into the build processes of the enterprise’s LOBs
Waste Management Ensures that all unwanted material in office or warehouse spaces is properly collected and disposed
