  • Information Technology Support for Kitty Hawk Aeronautics, Inc is based on an single Enterprise wide technology infrastructure. All the lines of business use the common technical infrastructure for the basis of their information systems.

  • The one Common Operating Environment is used as the base for all IT services. The Common Operating Environment provides the backbone of all the network and server based solutions for Kitty Hawk Aeronautics. All enterprise-wide services needed by employees and sub-contractors are provided.
  • All the back office, or enterprise wide systems, use the Kitty Hawk Common Operating Environment. A common Enterprise Service Bus architecture provides the users and systems access to the back office system functionality and information.
  • This Enterprise wide technical architecture allows for integrations with the front office or customer specific systems that are required by the lines of business.

  • The SA-1 System Interface Diagram shows the system interfaces and the location where the systems are run.
    • Kitty Hawk Aeronautics is headquartered in Elizabeth City, N.C.
      • All of the ‘back-office’ common systems are run at the headquarters site. This includes all the Accounting, Contracts, HR, Legal, and is the home for all the technical services that are provided at all the offices.
      • The KHA Inventory system is also based at the headquarters office
      • The KHA Avionics R&D line of business is also based at the N.C. office
    • The Norfolk, VA office is where the Defense systems LOB is located.
      • Along with the shared systems for shipping/receiving and all the tech services provided to all Kitty Hawk sites, this site manages the systems that support the DoD client.
    • The Seattle, WA office is where the Commercial LOB is located.
      • This site runs the CAD/CAM and Production Plant systems as well as all the common / shared services.
    • The San Diego, CA and Daytona Beach, FL offices contain both the Space Systems and R&D Line of Business systems and staff.
      • One of the Space Systems maintained at these sites both interface with each other and directly with client systems in Texas and California.
      • Both these sites support the standard common services provided to all Kitty Hawk projects.
      • These sites also maintain the systems that are needed for both Space Systems clients and R&D work.
