KHA Customer Relations in 2010 (View 1)

Planning Assumptions:

  1. New real-time streaming video capability.

  2. Product presentations at Space Technology Expositions.

  3. Continued partnership with Jet Propulsion Lab.

  4. Integration of financial data with warehouse and sales data is complete.

  5. More emphasis by NASA on unmanned space exploration programs, due to continued Shuttle program drawdown.

  6. Increased market share in telemetry system line of business.

President and CEO of Kitty Hawk Aeronautics, Mr. Dwight Hendricks is attending the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Technology Exposition -2010 in Houston Texas.  He has just completed his presentation on KHA’s new advanced range telemetry system.  Mr. John Lightfoot, Director of the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) meets Mr. Hendricks in the display area and begins discussion on a new NASA Planetary Lander Project that could benefit from the use of advanced range telemetry.

Mr. Lightfoot invites the Director of NASA, Mr. Harold Longreach into the conversation.  Mr. Longreach is excited over the possibility of adding KHA on to the project.  He sites the success of the June 2008 Phoenix Mars Lander Project, which used telemetry systems developed by the JPL/KHA partnership.  However in this case, the timeline is short and actions would have to happen quickly.

Mr. Hendricks gathers the KHA team and sets up streamlining video collaboration between the JPL technicians in Houston, KHA technicians in Seattle, WA, and representatives at the Technology Exposition.  KHA’s new architecture and video capability allows each participant to access full collaboration capability using a combination of Personal Digital Assistants (PDA), notebook computers, and cellular phones.  Results of the collaboration show that the new

telemetry system integrates perfectly with other components in the project.  But can KHA deliver on the JPL and NASA schedule, price, and quantity?

The KHA team uses PDA access through the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), to the EA repository and into the Knowledge Warehouse.  Using this seamless access they verify quantity on hand, production forecasts, shipping dates, and cost.  Both JPL and NASA requirements for the project can be met.

With the integration of the Contracts into the data mart, team KHA is able to produce preliminary contract documents for review on sight at the Technology Exposition, The new architecture has been successful in accelerating both the research and contracting processes.  Mr. Hendricks is delighted with the new possibilities, and KHA has established sound customer relations with a business partner and product customer.

KHA Customer Relations in 2010 (View 2)

Planning Assumptions:

  1. A moderate level customer base has been established in Europe and Asia.

  2. Asian based airlines filling route gaps due to reduced competition in the region.

  3. A General Aviation Systems LOB in progress under Commercial Aviation Systems Division.

  4. Integration of enterprise financial data with warehouse and sales is completed.

  5. Enhance video technology allow Collaborative Tools (Net meeting and GoTo Meeting) access from use on PDAs.

In an effort for KHA to develop new relationships in the Asian/Pacific region, KHA is presenting a brief on their latest designs for wiring harness kits for the MD80’s at the July 2008 Asian Aviation Technology Expo. Paul Kung Foo will be presenting in both English and Chinese.  In addition, KHA has rented a booth for potential customers to talk in a more private location.

When Kung Foo was at the conference, Mr.Chiko King the lead buyer for Beijing Express Limited (BJE) heard the lecture; he went immediately to the booth.

He shared:

  • They have 3 MD80’s and based on the historical repair records, 6% of the flights were delayed due to shorts in the wiring harness component.

  • As part of BJE’s business strategy, they want to expand their routes and destinations to cover Europe and United States/Canada.

Upon leaving the booth, Kung Foo promised to get back to Mr. King and research the compatibility and to cross check using the actual fleet specifications

Howard Dwight is the head of Boeing Commercial Airline Services and was also at the expo and overheard Kung Foo and Chiko’s conversation. Howard, thought to himself that with the new features of the harness’ design and enhanced reliability that he should suggest to Kung Foo, to apply to the Boeing ‘approved supplier list’ and gave Kung Foo the names of those to contact at Boeing.

Kung Foo gets back to his office and starts up his PDA in Video conference mode.  His is feeling pretty good about the expo and two new leads.  The first thing he does is go to his favorite link, the Enterprise Knowledge Base.  He knows he needs to get these two hot leads to the right people back at headquarters. He determines the relevant focal for marketing and sales, contracts, and the engineering by accessing the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), to the EA repository and into the Knowledge Warehouse.

KHA’s new architecture and video capability allows each participant to access full collaboration capability using a combination of Personal Digital Assistants (PDA), notebook computers, and cellular phones.  He sets up a meeting using the video conferencing and gets the information to the right folks back at KHA in a single collaborative exchange. Kung Foo is on to his next mission.
