Kitty Hawk Wide Area Network (Current)

  • Provides connectivity between the three security perimeters for external traffic thus allowing for transparent redundant fail-over and load balancing between perimeters and the external environment.

  • Carries “untrusted” inter-region traffic isolated from the internal intranet.

Connecting Campus Networks to the Provider Net

  • Enclaves are established at various sites based on local requirements.

  • Single access reduces costs and alleviates availability issues.

  • Associate the Enclave to a VPN based on the ATM VC (or sub interface) at the PE, or by some other method.

LAN - Network Lite / Lifeline Service

  • Low cost connection service being explored to provide lower price point for small offices and as a low cost backup for sites with existing Frame Relay or other, relatively low speed, connection service.
  • The service makes use of DSL or cable modem as access to the public Internet.
  • IPSEC tunnels configured for privacy.
  • The site is effectively “internal” - All addressing and the routing architecture maintained.
  • Contract with AT&T signed to provide access services.
