In support of of BTR's strategic Goal #2: Enhanced information and communication systems, our organization will migrate existing information systems from a client-server architecture to a service-oriented architecture. As part of this migration, the standard look and feel of some user interfaces will change. The presentation layer of older applications will change from a Motif look and feel to that provided via Java Swing classes and web browsers. Existing web pages will be recoded from HTML into XHTML. As part of this migration, the desktop environment for some older PCs/workstations will change from CDE and Windows NT to Windows XP.

In support of of BTR's strategic Goal #2: Enhanced information and communication systems, the organization will migrate internally developed C++ applications to Java 1.5 using the Java EE 5 framework. Windows XP Professional To provide relocatees with the greatest familiarity and ease of use in communicating with their friends/family via the Internet, BTR will be migrating all of its desktop operating systems from Solaris 8 and Windows NT to Windows XP.
